PARIS will provide estimates of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions using observation-based methods. We will support improved estimates of national emissions and National GHG Inventories (NGHGIs) which is needed to come up with better strategies to mitigate climate change.

Together with AVENGERS and EYE-CLIMA, which are funded under the same call on “Verification and reconciliation of estimates of climate forcers”, and we share a broad range of backgrounds including atmospheric science, ecology, computer science, and systems analysis, as well as climate and emissions reporting. We have also teamed up with the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS), which is implementing a new operational greenhouse gas emission monitoring & verification support capacity that will become operational in 2026.
